Shama posted a great video on her blog Shama.tv today that I wanted to share as it fits so well for Marketing Monday.
Your marketing should always consist of 3 vital elements:
1) Educate – tell the consumer about your product and provide valuable information to them
2) Market – get the word out about your product or service
3) Sell – include a call to action to get people to buy
To increase the effectiveness of your marketing make sure that any promotional materials you use to promote your pet sitting business includes these 3 elements. This includes business cards, flyers, websites, and posters.
Shama has many more great marketing suggestions at her blog. Take a look at Marketing 911-EMS and some of her past video entries here at http://www.Shama.tv.com
I’m having trouble getting my website to come up when I do a local search and I’ve spend many wasted $$$$ but I see my friends sites pop up 1st and they don’t pay. What do they know that I don’t? They’re my friends but also my competion so I don’t want to ask them.
Thank You,

Thanks for the great tips I’ll use them for my Shih Tzu Grooming Site.
Hi Debbie – do you mean when you do a Google search for your business? Have you listed your buiness on Google Maps and Yahoo Local websites?
You could also set up a link directory on your site that gives your customers info on other local non-competing pet businesses like groomers, poop scoopers etc. Once you put a buinesses link – ask them if they will link back to your site. Links to your site will boost your search engine rankings.
Also – do you have your keywords (eg city that you service and pet sitting or pet sitter) on your home page near the top of page – and also in the header bar (blue bar on top of the screen)?
All of these things can help to get you ranked better in Google and Yahoo.
