9 Ways to Increase Your Pet Sitting Business Income

by Danielle Chonody on May 1, 2009

Quick Tip ThursdayWe had a great first mastermind call last night and one of the topics we discussed was how to add services or products to your pet sitting business to increase your business revenue. Here are a few quick tips :

1. Raise your prices – if you haven’t raised your prices in the last 12 months why not revisit what you charge for a vacation visit or dog walk.  Look carefully at the value you offer your customers and compare it to what is offered by your competitors.  Raising your price by $1-$2 per visit can dramatically increase your income.

2. Offer group dog walks or adventure hikes for dogs

3. Offer add on services such as nail clipping or dog washing

4. Put together VIP packages that offer your clients more convenience and pamper the pets

5. Offer delivery of pet foods, kitty litter, or other pet supplies

6. Teach pet first aid classes – get certified at http://www.pettech.net

7. Learn pet massage and offer as an add on service

8. Organize pet parties at a local day care or dog park

9. Offer longer visits for more playtime or longer walks

Let me know if you offer any other extras that bring more income into your pet sitting business – or if you just have some more ideas.  Just add your comment below!

I recently became a pet advisor for Petlane so I could offer my clients quality food and products.

Hi Barb – I’m also a Petlane advisor. Right now I buy the food for my pets and haven’t really advertised them to clients. But I see these businesses as having great synergy! Love to hear how you plan to market them :)

Hi Danielle – When I joined I sent an email to my clients whose emails I had (I have a small cat sitting business since I also have to work a full time job). I just recently did a booth at Walk For The Animals for the SPCA and had great interest and sold products. I have another pet expo this coming week. I ordered some postcards to mail to pet sitters, groomers, pooper scoopers, etc to see if they would like some extra income. I plan on getting magnets for the car and put on a card caddie so people can take a card whenever I’m out and about and parked. I also put up cards and a sign on the board at our local dog park.
