Terry, you bring up a great point about black cats. I would encourage anyone with black cats to make sure they are indoors on Halloween and a day or two before. I have several barn cats and 2 of them are black. I take great pains to ensure they stay in the barn at night during this time of year. I must admit, this year it hasn't been too hard as it's quite cold in Colorado!

I think it's also important to remember to keep the candy someplace that the cats and dogs cannot get access to it! Of coure we all know that chocolate can be deadly but a reminder now and again can be helpful!

Have a spooktacular halloween!

These are great tips for what can be a terrifying holiday for pets. Many shelters will not adopt out black cats for several weeks before Halloween, because they are afraid some nut will use them in a Halloween sacrifice, or worse.

Just like Fourth of July, the noises and strange sights of Halloween can cause animals to bolt out the door and get lost or hurt.

I will add a link to your post on my blog!
