14 Planning and Mindset Tips for Pet Sitters

There have been so many teleseminars and emails about goal setting and business planning for 2009 hitting my inbox in the first week of this year that it has been almost overwhelming.  If you are subscribed to many other ezines I’m sure you’ve shared my feelings. To cut through the clutter for you I’ve decided to give you the best 14 quick tips that I’ve received this week 2 of my favorite coaches – Ali Brown and Milana Leshinsky.

Last night I listed to Ali Browns call where she revealed the 5 mindset shifts that have allowed her to achieve phenomenal success in 2008.

1. Stop ladder climbing and start leap frogging. Be bold and plan to take giant steps toward achiving bigger goals in 2009.  When you set goals don’t worry about the details of how they will be accomplished. Once you believe in your ability to achieve big goals the pieces the how will start falling into place for you.

2. Learn from a broader perspective than your current industry. Take a look at what other successful entrepreneurs are doing to achieve big success and think about how you can use your business as a platform to help the word.

3. Make decisions from where you want to be in your business and not where you currently are. When you achieve success and are making the income that you desire will you build a team and invest in coaching for yourself? Why wait – you need to take these steps today to achieve success tomorrow

4. Plan carefully but don’t sit on your plans. To achieve you goals you need to have a plan set of action steps. Once you have them don’t be afraid to change them as new opportunities surface.

5. Surround yourself with people and environments that support your goals. Make sure you associate with people who are successful through coaching and masterminds. You are the sum of the 5 people that you associate with regularly.

This week I listed to a call recorded by Milana Leshinsky in November 2008 that gave some great advice to ensure that you put together an effective plan for growing your business this year.  Milana recommends that before you begin planning you should review and take an inventory of the following 9 areas of your current business:

1) Lead generation – do you have a system for bringing you consistent client leads?

2) Lead conversion – do you have consistent follow up systems in place and compelling marketing materials?

3) Revenue streams – do you have multiple streams of income and a product funnel?

4) Strategic Alliances – do you regularly find ways to form joint ventures by contributing to other businesses ezines, blogs, or membership sites

5) Internet Technology – are you using the internet to automate tasks? Make your marketing and followup effortless by leveraging the internet.

6) Client Relationships – do you have a system to manage customer expectations? Create a welcome kit and products that are suited to different stages of your customers growth.

7) Support Team – do you have a team who can help you with administrative, creative, and client care?

8) Market Leadership – have you positioned yourself as a market leader? You can do this by keeping up with current market needs and providing useful information regularly via an ezine or blog.

Analyze which areas that you business is strongest in and which areas you could improve to get better results in 2009.  Choose two of the improvement areas to focus on this year. Plan out action steps that you will take to implement these 2 business strategies and give each action step a timeline for completion.

  1. I’m surprised that no-one has called me on the fact that there are only 13 tips in my article. The tip missing is number 9 of the business check ups in second list. No 9 is business systems – do you have step by step processes for common business tasks so that you can increase efficiency?
